In 2017 the companies Czech Gene Bank and Medical Centre of Prague fused and since then all services are secured through the Medical Centre of Prague.

PREPARATION FOR STEM CELL COLLECTION

A two stage medical examination is made before stem cells are collected using the separator. We will ask for the clients medical records (available upon request from a general practitioner) and also for a completed questionnaire about the client´s health status. Based on these a Medical Centre of Prague doctor will determine the client´s suitability. Then the client will be invited for further medical and laboratory tests.  These will be used to determine the suitability for collection from each individual. After a full assessment of their current health condition it will be possible to arrange a date for the collection to be made.

STEM CELL COLLECTION

Stem cells are collected on the Spectra Optia system which is currently the best technology for apheresis. Collection is painless, carried out as an out-patient and can be repeated as needed.

STEM CELL PROCESSING

Processing of separated stem cells takes place in the laboratories of the Medical Centre of Prague under strict aseptic conditions. We provide an environment which is maintained to the highest standards and it is free from microbial and dust particles that could contaminate the sample.

STEM CELL STORAGE

Proper processing and optimised cryopreservation of stem cells are crucial for their long-term storage. For these purposes the Medical Centre of Prague has chosen the best technology provided by the companies Thermogenesis and Thermo Scientific (BioArchive, Cryomed). 

MEDICAL USE OF STEM CELLS

Stem cells have great potential to replace damaged cells. At present there are many options for their use. Before therapeutic use the stem cell unit is tested and after that the cells are retained for your own (autologous) medical use.
